From the editor ...

(From Outside the Camp, Vol. 11, No. 1)

Believe it or not, this issue marks the tenth anniversary of Outside the Camp. What an amazing journey it has been. We had no idea what God had in store for us when we published that first issue ten years ago with its lead article on the only kind of love God has for man, which is particular, saving love (as opposed to the heresy of universal love). With that issue back in 1997, we embarked on a journey in which this newsletter has become one of the most well-known - and one of the most vilified - publications in "sovereign grace" Christendom. We have been the subject of too many articles and discussion groups to count. An entire web site and an entire book have been devoted to opposing us. Warnings against us are ubiquitous. Pastors have warned their congregations, parents have warned their children, and prominent Calvinist leaders have warned everyone they can reach.

Why have we gotten so much attention? Why don't people just ignore us? One word that describes us is the reason: we are iconoclasts. We shatter the idols of self-righteous religionists wherever they may be found - not only in Roman Catholicism but also in Arminianism and Calvinism (which come from the same Great Whore). The self-righteous religionists hate us for the same reason Jesus Christ was hated - because He (and we, as His disciples) testify that their deeds are evil. We shine the light of God-glorifying, man-debasing truth, and that light exposes the man-made religion of the self-loving God-haters, who call evil good and good evil and love the darkness rather than the light.

The Lord willing, we will keep shining the light of truth into the darkness of self-righteous religion. Those who are God's people will love the truth; those who are God-haters will hate it. It has always been that way from the beginning.

In this special double-issue, we are reprinting some of the articles that are no longer available in back issues. We are also introducing our new masthead.

It is also time to purge our mailing list again.
